WINGS BY APRILYNNE PIKE
Laurel discovers she is a faerie, sent among humans to protect the gateway to Avalon. Thrust into the midst of a centuries-old battle between faeries and trolls, she’s torn between a human and a faerie love, as well as her loyalties to each world. In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.
This mythology series was written in such a new light. I tould never have pin-pointed a well-known mystical in such a novel way. Lot’s of jealousy, romance, action -packed fights—really good book.

SUCKS TO BE ME BY KIMBERLY PAULEY

So, you think your life sucks? Try being Mina Hamilton. Her parents are vampires, which would sound cool if they weren’t so bo-ring and parent-like. And now Mina has to decide whether or not she wants to be one too…in a month. As if high school wasn’t bad enough, now she’s got to go to vampire classes with a bunch of freaks who actually want to drink blood (Gross! As if sushi wasn’t bad enough.).

And she can’t even tell her best friend about any of it, not with a bunch of red-tape-loving vampire bureaucrats breathing down her neck. How’s a girl supposed to find a prom date and get through school with all this blood-sucking drama going on?

This series was freaking hilarious. Mina is an amazing character, so chill when crazy-weird problems  come her way. Her humor on life and bringing the norm into the unnatural is so quirky and fun. Must read.

Bras and Broomsticks by Sarah Mlynowski
What if all your wishes could come true? Blink your eyes, drink a fizzing pink potion, and poof! Life is perfect. Thats Rachels situation. Except shes not the one who suddenly has magical powers. Her younger sister is. And as Rachel would tell you, spellbooks are wasted on the young!
Yes, yes, of course world peace and cures for horrible diseases are important. But so is dancing without looking like shes being electrocuted, winning back her best friend, stopping her dads wedding, and finding a date for Spring Fling.
Rachels not bewitched. Yet… .

This MAGIC IN MANHATTAN series was so cute, the effortless way it was written was amazing. Sisterly rivalry and love, unexpected ways to find solutions in life and all with a mix of freaking hilarious Rachel and her tweeked up magic. I LOVE IT

I’d tell you I loved you but then I’d have to kill you by Ally Carter
The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women is a fairly typical all-girls school—that is, if every school teaches advanced martial arts in PE, chemistryalways consists of the latest in chemical warfare, and everyone breaks CIA codes for extra credit in computer class. Soin truth, while the Gallagher Academy might say it’s a school for geniuses what they really mean is spies. But what happens when a Gallagher Girl falls for a boy who doesn’t have a code name? Cammie Morgan may be fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways (three of which involve a piece of uncooked spaghetti), but the Gallagher Academy hasn’t prepared her for what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she’s an ordinary girl. Sure, she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, and track him through a mall without him ever being the wiser, but can she have a regular relationship with a regular boy who can never know the truth about her? Cammie may be an elite spy in training, but in her sophomore year, she’s doing something riskier than ever—she’s falling in love.
This series is amazing and if your into action, mystery, love, and pretty much a strong willed character in the best secret spy school out there : this is your book. It’s quirky, fun, yet serious with it’s group of characters and unsolved crime. LOVE IT!

NEED by CARRIE JONES
Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life’s been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother’s pretty much checked out. Now Zara’s living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays “safe.” Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother can’t deal.
Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn’t a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie—and not the cute, lovable kind with wings. He’s the kind who has dreadful, uncontrollable needs. And he’s trailing Zara.
I am really into this series, the random notes of phobias and amnesty ideas is very interesting and the character’s struggles are like nothing I’ve read before in a fantasy/paranormal book. It really changed my perspective of the Tinkerbell pixie sort of outlook. Really great read if your into the horror, romance, and basically new way of seeing the world.

I’ve given up all hope of having a normal life. As if things weren’t freaky enough traveling around Europe with a group of witches, mediums, and magicians who make up my home-away-from-home (aka the GothFaire), now I also have to cope with a mysterious man who wants to steal my horse, and a time-travel counselor who insists I’m Cleopatra reincarnated.
CONFESSIONS OF A VAMPIRE GIRLFRIEND: Katie Maxwell

I just want to go on a date with Benedikt, but when your boyfriend’s a vampire, nothing is easy. Not only is Ben keeping secrets from me, but somehow, I raised an entire battlefield of warring Viking ghosts–all of whom refuse to be sent back.
And I thought all I had to worry about was what to wear on my date…

If you like the wacky and outright crazy , you will love this. It’s something that has stuck in my mind for years, for some reason that I can never fathom. It’s new and not too shabby or outrageous in the fiction department but instead has the strongest main character who’s head strong for trouble and will fight till’ the end for love.

Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives.
THE HUNGER GAMES by SUZANNE COLLINS
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.
Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

This series is very powerful and had me hooked at the beginning. They are also coming out with a movie and if you like action, explosions, love and rivalry —you’ll love this. *The ending of the series could have been better though. It’s all great until the last book and than it kind of goes downhill. Read for yourself)

GRACELING by KIRSTEN CASHORE

This is the story of Katsa, who has been able to kill people with her bare hands since she was eight. Katsa lives in the seven kingdoms, where very occasionally, a person is born with an extreme skill called a Grace. Gracelings are feared and exploited in the seven kingdoms, and none moreso than Katsa, who’s expected to do the dirty work of torture and punishment for her uncle, King Randa. But then she meets a mysterious stranger named Po, who is also a Graced fighter and the first person ever to challenge her in a fight. The two form a bond, and each discovers truths they never imagined about themselves, each other, and a terrible danger that is spreading slowly through the seven kingdoms.

This books was pretty amazing, I must admit. Fantasy readers and those who admire strength will love this. It also comes with a companion book called FIRE which is even better. It’s set in its own little world, kind of like Harry Potter and similar reads.

FIRE:

Beautiful creatures called monsters live in the Dells. Monsters have the shape of normal animals: mountain lions, dragonflies, horses, fish. But the hair or scales or feathers of monsters are gorgeously colored— fuchsia, turquoise, sparkly bronze, iridescent green— and their minds have the power to control the minds of humans.

Seventeen-year-old Fire is the last remaining human-shaped monster in the Dells. Gorgeously monstrous in body and mind but with a human appreciation of right and wrong, she is hated and mistrusted by just about everyone, and this book is her story.

FADE by LISSA MCMANN
For Janie and Cabel, real life is getting tougher than the dreams. They’re just trying to carve out a little (secret) time together, but no such luck. Disturbing things are happening at Fieldridge High, yet nobody’s talking. When Janie taps into a classmate’s violent nightmares, the case finally breaks open—but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. Janie’s in way over her head, and Cabe’s shocking behavior has grave co nsequences for them both.
Worse yet, Janie learns the truth about herself and her ability. And it’s bleak. Seriously, brutally bleak. Not only is her fate as a Dream Catcher sealed, but what’s to come is way darker than she’d even feared…

This ending of this series really upset me. I mean pissed me the fuck off. The main character’s love life seems like its going great, she’s strong, solving mysteries as a narc yada yada and than BAM, the ending destroys everything. I guess you’d like it if you like the unexpected and truth of reality.

Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz:
Schuyler Van Alen has never fit in at Duchesne, her prestigious New York City private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes instead of the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates, and she lives with her reclusive grandmother in a dilapidated mansion. Schuyler is a loner—and happy that way.
But when she turns fifteen, Schuyler’s life changes dramatically. She has a mosaic of blue veins on her arms, and craves raw meat. The death of a popular girl from Duchesne is surrounded by a mystery that haunts her. And strangest off all, Jack Force, the most popular boy in school, is showing a sudden interest in her.
Schuyler wants to find out the secrets the Blue Bloods are keeping. But is she herself in danger?

This series was good at first but now I’m sort of giving up on it because it sort of drags and isn’t as attracting as before. The characters faced the usual battles and mysteries in the first 2 or 3 books and after that its just blah. But that’s just me, you may think differently.

The Awakening:
If you had met me a few weeks ago, you probably would have described me as an average teenage girl—someone normal. Now my life has changed forever and I’m as far away from normal as it gets. I’m a living science experiment—not only can I see ghosts, but I can raise the dead without even trying. Trust me, that is not a power you want to have. Ever. I’m running  for my life with three of my supernatural friends and we have to find someone who can help us gain our freedom back before the Edison Group finds us first. Or die trying.
This trilogy by Kelley Armstrong has you suspecting characters in every turn until the end when you realize everything you thought was going to happen get’s totally twisted around. I love books that give me a challenge to figure out, especially in who the main character will love. Werewolf or Wizard? (Now that’s a mix from the usual “Twilight” cliche’s). Governmental experimentation and involvement leads to an escape like no other.

Throwaway by Heather Huffman: READ FREE ON iBOOKS OR ONLINE
When society deemed Jessie a throwaway, she didn’t let it stop her from finding the sunshine in her world…
But that world is threatened when she finds herself undeniably drawn to the mischievous glint in the eyes of a man unlike any she’s ever met before.
What starts as a simple crush will lead them both on a journey they could never have anticipated. From a vibrant St. Louis neighborhood known as Cherokee Street to a cave in the Ozark Mountains with a 120-year-old mystery to hide, Jessie fights organized crime, corruption and her own fears to reclaim her life and leave her mark on this world.
This book was a quick and enjoyable.   Jessie being a prostitute trying to get freedom from her pimp was hilarious and she’s so witty and clever that I’ll admit I cried and laughed out loud reading this until I looked like a weirdo. A must read.

Yuuki’s earliest memory is of a stormy night in winter, where she was attacked by a vampire… And then rescued by another. Now 10 years later, Cross Yuuki has grown up and become a guardian of the vampire race, protecting her savior, Kaname, from discovery as he leads a group of vampires at the elite boarding school. But also at her side is Kiryuu Zero, a childhood friend who’s hatred for the creatures that destroyed everything he held dear, is now determined never to trust them. In this world of secrets, nothing is as it seems. And the price of misplaced trust may even be worse than death…

This manga was great and I was really into it at first, the mystery made me want to find out what happens next. But after a while, it gets tiring and more people come in and it was very hard to follow. The answers from the mysterious secrets I wanted also got disturbing and gross (the love triangle). Well, at least the art was amazing!

Every few years, the prestigious Seiso Academy holds a prominent musical competition, and only the very best students at the Academy are allowed to participate. Though all are eligible to apply, only students from the music department actually make it to the competition…until now.
Hino Kahoko goes to this amazing school, though she is in the regular department and knows nearly nothing of music. That is until one day, when she meets a curious little creature who introduces himself as a music fairy by the name of Lili. This fairy gives the unwilling Kahoko a magical violin, which any one can play. Suddenly Kahoko is thrown into a world of music, where every note counts, where she must strive to be perfect. And then there are the other competitors, a timid girl and five handsome, musical young men who are all effected by Kahoko’s music in very different ways.
I usually go for manga’s like these. The tough guy that is all perfection and the awkward but determined and strong girl that manages to make him fall in love with her (and in the process more than one guy, hence a love triangle.) This really brings out the joys and effects of music on others. After reading this, I wanted to learn an instrument and play a song to make someone’s day. =)
